Warpspeeders (SAGE '26 Demo)
Warpspeeders is a 2D platformer where you run through small, enclosed stages and cover as much distance as possible! You control Sidus, an anthropomorphic star who leaves behind a trail everywhere he moves, and touching the trail will lose you a life! Go for a high distance or meet the distance requirements as quickly as possible!
Press the Jump button in midair to come to a stop instantly and begin charging an air dash. You can hold the button to remain in place for as long as you would like, but your dash won’t take long to reach full charge for maximum distance. That extra distance can help, but be careful not to hurl yourself into your own trail!
This demo has twenty stages with two areas right now, but future plans mainly involve more stages, areas, and gimmicks.
Controls:
- A / D / Left Arrow / Right Arrow - Left Stick / D-Pad - Move
- S / Down Arrow / Down - Crouch
- Spacebar / Bottom Face Button / Left Face Button
- (while grounded) - Jump
- (while crouching or midair) - Dash
- Shift / Triggers / Bumpers - Dash
- Enter / Start - Pause
- ` / Select - Debug Menu
- W / A / S / D - Select Stage
- Spacebar - Confirm Stage
Tips:
- There are three movement styles; Omnidirectional is the default, but in this demo, you can scroll to the bottom of the debug menu to change it if the direction you need to hold is confusing.
- Omnidirectional - hold in the direction of the slope Sidus is on to move that direction (hold towards the ground to crouch)
- Classic - hold left or right to move that direction relative to Sidus
- Horizontal - hold left or right to move that direction relative to you, regardless if Sidus is a ceiling (but you can hold one direction to keep running that way)
- Omnidirectional - hold in the direction of the slope Sidus is on to move that direction (hold towards the ground to crouch)
- You can land on walls and ceilings just by touching them, and you will not fall off of them if you slow down. You can reach higher places, but be careful not to cut yourself off!
- If you get unsure, you can hold your dash to plan your next move! Use the full charge to get to safety!
- There is a dedicated Dash button if you need to dash from the ground, but you can also hold Down and press Jump if that’s more comfortable!
- Dashing will allow you to pass through your trail for a moment. Try jumping to create pockets to dash through on a second pass! You cannot charge another dash from inside your trail though.
- You get one air dash before you land, but interacting with most aerial objects will restore your dash! You will have a star-shaped aura if your dash is available. Try chaining air dashes together after you’ve run along the ground!
